Hi Guys, i have an S60 2.4T and about a week ago i started getting the transmission light coming on and then going off so i thought it could be a faulty sensor or something. But at the weekend the car has started to take about 5 seconds to engage and when i put it in drive i get a really hard jolt at the same time. any ideas thanks

Whats the condition of the ATF, has the ATF done lots of miles? Should not smell burnt & should be nice bright cherry red colour. If ATF smells burnt &/or is brown ( or darker ) colour ,could be worth doing an ATF flush. Good luck Dave

Hi Yes definatly change the gear oil as these gearboxes suffer if it is'nt changed regulary. Check with your dealer that the gearbox has the latest software in as several mods were brought out for shift quality etc. hope this helps

Well the car has been serviced every 10,000 but the dealer said the gear oil only needs to be change every 5 years, but it was very dark so i made them change it. The cars done about 110000 miles. When the cars cold its fine but when it warms up the car will judder as i pull away. The 5 second delay when engaging is there all the time though. Also i had an upgrade done on the software about two weeks ago to see if that would sort it but i did'nt. would flushing the box help? thanks paul

If 'they' have changed the ATF, theres a good chance 'they' only drained the sump & filled up again; this would basically mean you may still have approx 1/2 the original ATF in the box. A complete flush would be advisable & could improve things drastically, or not at all. I think it is worth a shot though. If you are 1/2 decent with the spanners yourself I would advise DiY & sourcing the ATF from GM stock as this will save you lots of money on parts/labour & you will know its been done correctly. 110k miles on , probably, the same ATF may have been too much though. Good luck, Dave
