I am using volvo standard shocks front & rear, just replaced recently, but as i am driving faster & faster, am begining to feel not satisfied with the cornering stability, too much side roll. Any member has experience dealing with this with strut stabilizer bars. Does it work with standard shocks? Any idea how to DIY?
Not sure what model you have but fitting a 23mm front antirollbar and a 19mm rear off a turbo will improve things a bit. It depends on what you can get hold of. I found a 24mm front one off an early 960 to put on mine. It made quite a difference, moving the steering wheel actually makes the car go round a corner, before it just made it lean over ! Chris, does the ride feel any firmer now you have fitted the bars ? I'm sure that bumps are more noticable in mine now, not suh a bad thing as it was really soft before.

I polybushed at the same time so its difficult to say, the front end feels alot tighter. I'd say it feels firmer if you hit a pot hole, and you can feel the resistance when you park up on a kerb but for just driving along, its still soft.
Over last week end, i bought a used front anti roll bar from a chop shop. It measured approx. 22mm. My car came with something like 21mm. I asked for one from 960, but was told they have different mountings, so i took something that fits. With the new bar, i can feel slight improvement on handling. Unfortunately they do not have rear 23mm bar.
The biggest rear bar that Volvo did for 940's was 19mm as far as I know. The slightly larger one on the front will help a bit. The 960 front bar I suggested does have different mountings, if you get them as well it should fit on your car ok . It depends on what year though. The one I have was off a 1991 car I think then they went over to a 23mm one. When the revised 960 came out with the new style front suspension they changed the antiroll bars completely so late ones won't fit. Some guys in the USA have managed to fit 2 front bars have a look here, but remember that some of the information is about 240's. Possibly not the best way to do it but it's cheap.
